Long Calgary’s first ever Fireside Chat just happened yesterday and it was so sick! Jeff Adamson dropped some serious game, we really appreciate you doing this.
What do Fireside Chats look like at long Calgary? Highly curated, intimate, no BS conversation for people who actually care to be a part of a new movement
Here's a few things we've learned:
1. As a founder, you need to know how to endure, how to stare off into the abyss and chew glass.
2. Things will break. At some point while growing and sclaing a startup, things will go wrong. It's how you recover from it that makes the difference
3. Calgary needs a startup culture. Let's reshape the way we think about founders, and encourage to get out there and try something crazy. It's tough to leave the cushy, corporate gig and dive headfirst into a startup. Those corporations will be fine without us, but we need the founders and entrepreneurs.
A key component in this is a sick space to have it at, and Socality House was a perfect match. Anyone there would tell you how perfect the space was for this. Their values align perfectly with ours, thank you to Scott Bakken for letting this happen (interview with him coming real soon)
Thank you to everyone for making it out, the interest and support for this was insane. This is just the start
Thank you to Cameron MacCarthy at Borden Ladner Gervais LLP (BLG) for sponsoring this, wouldn’t have been possible without it.
Thank you to Carter Norrish from Cubbi for pulling up with some great meals
Thank you to Tailgunner Brewing Company and Tuesday Brewing Co. for the sweet drinks
